Today we will explain how to adjust the handbrake of a 2002 Ford Focus on your own. To adjust the handbrake on this type of vehicle, we need to remove the gear shift boot. We start the adjustment by removing the plastic plate inside the lower dashboard and then lifting the boot. After completing the first steps, we will proceed with the second. Insert a screwdriver into the gear shift body and adjust the 8mm Torx screw of the handbrake. Test the handbrake tension by trying it out. After adjusting the handbrake, close the gear shift boot and test the handbrake by parking the vehicle on a slope, both uphill and downhill.
