How does Ford's "easy fuel" capless system work?

In this video, we see how the Ford's capless refueling system works: it is a patent called "easy fuel". We see it on a Focus, but it works in the same way on all vehicles in the range. The nozzle cannot be opened by anything other than the corresponding fuel pump. In fact, it is impossible for a gasoline vehicle to be fueled by a diesel pump and vice versa. In case a canister needs to be used for emergency refueling, a special spout is provided - which is part of the standard equipment of the vehicle - that allows for topping up.
