What does the red immobilizer LED in the center of the dashboard of a Ford Fiesta tell us?

Have we ever wondered what the red LED in the center of the dashboard of our Ford Fiesta indicates? It is the immobilizer and in fact, if it works well, no one questions it. With the car off, the LED flashes, indicating that the component is functioning, meaning that the car will only start with the coded key for that specific car, which we have in our possession. When we insert it, the red LED will remain on for three seconds and then turn off: this means it has recognized the key and we can start driving. But what happens if we insert the key and the car does not start? There can be two cases: the key has lost its coding, or the immobilizer has malfunctioned. In both cases, it is a problem that only the Dealer can solve.
