Replacing the Tailgate Lock on Ford Fiesta

Replacing the tailgate lock on a 2012 Ford Fiesta may be necessary when malfunctions such as mechanism jamming, water ingress, or spontaneous boot opening occur. The video shows the disassembly and subsequent reassembly of the lock, after spraying an anti-oxidant inside to prevent water ingress. Open the boot and detach the internal cover of the tailgate simply with your hands (the cover is held in place only by plastic clips). Disconnect the connector/actuator, possibly using a screwdriver for assistance. To detach the lock, simply remove the two 10mm hex screws. Use a flat screwdriver to remove the plastic cover on the lock and disconnect the second connector. Lubricate the mechanism and install the replacement following the procedure in reverse order.
