Replacing Hydraulic Struts on a Ford Focus Boot

Model: Ford Focus MK 2, Focus 2 - Years 2004-2011

Open the boot of the car and observe the structure of the hydraulic struts that hold it open. Use a small flat screwdriver or any sharp tool to detach the retaining ring that connects the gas spring to the boot, then detach the strut from the lower attachment. Clean the attachments with a suitable spray, such as WD-40. Similarly, fit the new strut by inserting it first into the lower seat and then into the boot: this operation should be done by hand, without the use of tools. Once the new strut is fitted, you can move on to replacing the other one.
