Changing the oil and filter are essential operations for the proper maintenance of your car. The following guide shows how to proceed if you intend to carry out the operation independently. A poorly executed oil change could damage the engine. The operation should be performed when the engine is cold to avoid burns. Lift the car with a jack and let the used oil drain into a container placed underneath. Use a strap wrench to unscrew the oil filter. The new filter should be kept with care to moisten the seal with oil to ensure better adherence.
