Operation: How to reset the BMS on a Ford Focus MK3

On Ford cars, the BMS is the battery management system, which monitors the condition of the battery and intervenes to extend its life, if necessary, by disabling some electrical functions. This system must be reset every time the battery is changed, or if a power supply is used to recharge the existing battery. In fact, the system will remember that the battery is flat. The problem can be avoided by leaving the vehicle off for at least eight hours or by resetting it; in any case the vehicle must have been switched off for at least 30 minutes. Put the key in the ON position and wait for the battery light to flash at least 5 times; press and release the brake 3 times. After 5/10 seconds the light should go off. This may need to be done again, but you must let the system cool down for 30 minutes.

Handbrake adjustment on Ford Ecosport

First remove the plastic profile at the base of the gear lever. To do this, slightly widen the side edges and carefully lift it to release it. There is no need to remove it completely, just move it forward to avoid bother. Now remove the plastic center console around the handbrake by first working from the rear to release it and lifting it until the brake lever passes. Also in this case it is not necessary to remove it completely but, paying attention to the connected cables, it can be stowed in front of the passenger seat. At this point we notice that at the base of the handbrake lever, on the front, we find a nut. By acting on it, with a 10 wrench, we can adjust the brake force, increasing it by turning the nut clockwise, or decreasing it by turning it counterclockwise. Once adjusted, the center console can be repositioned first, pressing lightly to engage it, and then the profile of the gearbox base.
