If you pull the handbrake lever and count more than four or five clicks, it is likely that the self-adjusting mechanism of the rear shoes, which compensates for wear, is unable to compensate for the slack in the cable. In this case, you need to make an adjustment using the adjustment screw located at the base of the handbrake lever. Remove the cover of the handbrake lever and access the adjustment nut. Insert a spanner and begin tightening the nut while counting the clicks of the lever: the adjustment is correct when you reach three clicks.
