Engine Coolant Replacement

Model: Ford Focus MK 1 - Years 1998-2004

Replace the engine coolant when it appears very dark; this colour indicates the presence of rust in the system, often caused by filling it with plain water. Open the cap of the coolant reservoir, locate the drain valve at the bottom of the radiator, and remove it to allow the system to empty. Once all the fluid has drained, refit the valve and fill the system with the appropriate coolant. Start the engine and activate the cabin heating, waiting for the operating temperature to be reached until the cooling fan engages, then check the level in the reservoir.
