This guide explains the procedure for replacing the fork gaiters on the Honda Transalp 650. The tools required for this job are: hex or star screwdriver, motorcycle lift, heat gun, soldering iron, teflon hammer, replacement gaiters (preferably original). The steps to follow are: 1. Remove the handlebars by unscrewing the 4 central screws; 2. Remove and slide off the central nuts and any internal pins and O-rings. If they are worn, replace them during the process; 3. Remove the fairing to make the job easier; 4. Use a motorcycle lift and position it slightly towards the rear axle so that the bike does not tip due to weight; 5. Remove the front wheel and what remains of the fork; 6. If welding is required, disconnect the battery or negative wire before starting; 7. Replace the old pins and fork gaiters with new parts (preferably original). During replacement, if necessary, heat the part with a heat gun for a few minutes to facilitate insertion; 8. First, insert the pin to secure it, then the new fork gaiters; 9. To fully reassemble the fork with the newly installed parts, reverse the steps from 6 to 1.

Changing the Oil and Filter on the Kawasaki Versys

Here’s how to change the oil and filter on the Kawasaki Versys. Warm up the engine for a few minutes, place the motorcycle on the centre stand, open the filler cap, and remove the drain plug underneath the engine. Place a catch basin under the oil sump, unscrew the drain plug, and let the oil drain out. Unscrew the oil filter and let all the old oil drain out. Install a new filter and tighten it with the appropriate tool. Pour half a glass of new oil into the filler cap and wait for it to flow out of the drain hole, after which replace the plug. Fill with approximately 1.8 litres of new oil, take it for a short ride to circulate the oil in the engine, stop the engine, and check the level through the designated window. Top up if necessary.
