How to Replace the Ignition Coils on a Honda Civic

To replace the ignition coils on a Honda Civic, start by opening the bonnet. Use a small flathead screwdriver to release the screws on the coil cover and remove it. Once the coil cover is off, use the same screwdriver to disconnect the connectors of the coils by pressing the tabs. After disconnecting the connectors, unscrew the nut on each coil, lift one coil at a time, and disconnect the previously removed connector. Now take the new coils, check the cylinder references, and insert them into their seats while positioning the connector onto its plug to reconnect it. With the new coils in place and the connector reattached, you can screw the nut back onto each coil, reposition the upper cover, and secure the screws on the cover before closing the bonnet.
