How to Measure the Gear Oil in a Jeep Renegade

Model: Jeep Renegade 520, MK 1, BU - Years 2014-2026

First, read the chart indicating the gear oil level at different engine temperatures. This will show you the minimum, average, and maximum levels that the gear oil should have in the vehicle you are checking. It is a good idea to engage the handbrake before performing the check. At this point, use the appropriate pliers to unscrew the cap from the designated oil check hole. This hole is located on the left side of the gearbox, just below the windscreen. Insert a graduated dipstick, in mm, similar to that used for checking engine oil, into the hole. Compare the measured level with that indicated on the chart based on the engine temperature displayed on the dashboard. And that’s it.
