How the Kia Alarm System Works

In this video, you can see how the alarm system works on the Kia Sportage, K8, and EV6. The system is designed to protect the vehicle when it is locked and secured, without the key inside. Close all the doors and make sure the smart key is not inside. Lock the vehicle (by touching the lock sensor on the outer handle or pressing the button on the smart key): the hazard lights flash once, confirming that the alarm is active. If someone tries to access the vehicle without using the key, the alarm triggers, the hazard lights flash for 30 seconds, and the siren sounds for 10 seconds. This cycle repeats twice. To deactivate it, simply press the unlock button on the smart key.
