The Air Conditioning System on the Kia Niro Hybrid Has a Problem

The video highlights a unfortunately known issue that is very costly to resolve, affecting some models of the Kia Niro Hybrid. The problem is refrigerant leakage from the evaporator, which occurs at a specific and difficult-to-inspect point: the connection between the evaporator pipes and the expansion valve. The evaporator is a heat exchanger, a type of radiator located inside the dashboard, which cools the air before it is introduced into the cabin. It is a component that can only be accessed after extensive disassembly. The repair is not simply replacing a pipe, but a very invasive operation: you must disassemble the dashboard - which takes several hours of work - replace the evaporator, then everything must be reassembled, and the air conditioning system must be vacuumed and recharged with refrigerant gas. The symptom of this problem is that the air conditioning no longer cools the air: keep in mind that the fault manifests gradually, so the system works well when cold, loses efficiency when the engine is hot, and then gets worse.
