Cleaning the EGR valve resolves issues with irregular acceleration, black smoke, loss of power, and the engine warning light being on. Before starting, disconnect the negative battery terminal. On the Opel Insignia A 2.0 CDTI, the EGR valve is located on the top/side of the engine, near the intake manifold.

In the video, you will find 3 screws on the pipe and 2 screws holding the valve. Loosen the screws on the pipe (be careful with the sealing ring), and remove the valve mounting bolts; disconnect the electrical connector and remove the yellow fuse.

Now you have the valve in hand, dirty with black sludge (a mixture of carbon and used oil). Spray a brake cleaner, such as Wurth, which can be found on race-shop. It has code 265069, priced at £3.40 for a 500 ml can plus £6.00 for shipping; let it sit for a few minutes and use a brush and rags to remove all deposits.

The stem should move freely and smoothly. If accessible, also clean the EGR pipe and the passage on the engine.

Refit the valve, insert the pipe, reconnect the electrical connector, and then reconnect the battery.

How to Activate the Disabled TRC on the Toyota Yaris?

As the video clearly shows, disabling or activating the traction control (TRC or ESP) on the Toyota Yaris is very simple. By default, the traction system activates every time the vehicle is started. To disable it, simply press the button depicting a skidding car located in the centre of the vehicle where the controls are, such as the hazard lights and the radio, but near the handbrake. Once disabled, the TRC off light will illuminate on the dashboard. To reactivate it, just press the same button again.
