To replace the timing belt on the Kia Sportage, lift the car so that the front right wheel is off the ground. Once lifted, unscrew the bolts securing it to the hub and remove it along with the corresponding inner wheel arch lining. You will then have access to the side of the engine block, which can be removed from the tensioner pulley. This can now be completely removed, allowing you to reduce the tension on the belt. You can then remove it and replace it with a new part.
