Engine Oil and Filter Change

Here is a demonstration video on how to change the engine oil including the filter. First, lift the car off the ground using a ramp or jack. Locate the drain plug on the oil sump. Unscrew it to allow the oil to drain from the engine into the container you have prepared underneath. Once the engine is empty of used oil, re-tighten the plug with a new washer/gasket if necessary. Now, unscrew the filter while covering the mechanical parts to prevent oil spillage. Check if the gasket is stuck to the filter or the engine, as it needs to be replaced along with the filter. Coat the new gasket with a bit of oil and screw on the new filter. Now pour in the new oil (approximately 3.5 litres) into the engine. Start the engine for a few minutes. Check the level on the dipstick and top up with any remaining oil if necessary. Car model: KIA RIO Year: 2005-2011
Required tools: 17mm spanner, filter socket wrench.
