How to Disable the Airbag on a Kia Niro

Disabling the passenger airbag on the Kia Niro mk1 may be necessary when transporting a child in a car seat. To disable the airbag, open the passenger door and insert the car key into the so-called "airbag lock" and turn it to OFF. To check that the airbag has been disabled, turn on the ignition; an error message or light will appear. To reactivate it, follow the same steps but turn the key to ON. Remember to reactivate the safety device once you have finished transporting the child in the seat.
