In order to replace the counter shaft seal of the KTM EXC 500, you need to loosen the nut that secures the sprocket to its housing, on the left side of the bike: once the sprocket has been freed from its seat, you can proceed by disconnecting the chain and locating the seal underneath. The seal can be completely removed from its housing in order to insert the new one: after installation, you can reinsert the sprocket and reposition the chain around it to ensure that everything functions correctly.
