Sand the entire surface thoroughly to remove the original glossy paint and create a rough surface for the new paint to adhere to; use an orbital sander for flat areas and manual sanding for edges and complex corners. Cover areas that should not be painted with paper, then apply black primer to protect the underlying metal and ensure paint adhesion.

Next, apply blue paint to achieve a darker and shinier colour, and finally apply the final blue coat in several thin layers to gradually build up the colour and avoid runs.
