How to rearrange the gear lever of a Land Rover Defender

The video shows a specific trick for covering the lever ball with heat-shrink tubing: we disassemble the gear lever by removing the central tunnel and unscrewing the screws that secure it to the floor. In older models, it is sufficient to unscrew the large crown nut under the ball; otherwise, the lever is held by two horizontal pins that pass through its base; we will need to push these pins out with a punch and a hammer. Once this is done, we obtain a heat-shrink tube of suitable diameter, cut it to a length slightly shorter than the ball, slide it onto the ball and push it down, then with a heat gun, we evenly heat the tube, which will take the desired shape, forming a perfect and non-slip sheath. We finish the edges with a knife. Now we reassemble everything and we are good to go.
