Instructions for Replacing the Lambda Sensor

The oxygen sensor (better known as the lambda sensor) is necessary to detect the presence of oxygen in the exhaust gases and to maintain the air-fuel ratio (kg air/kg fuel) within the optimal efficiency range of the catalyst, commonly referred to as 'lambda 1'.
It is advisable to perform this maintenance with the engine cold as the oxygen sensor is located directly on the exhaust pipe; first, access the sensor and spray some penetrating oil, then unscrew it and disconnect the corresponding connector; proceed in reverse for the installation of the new sensor.
