Replacing the shell of a key is a very simple operation; for example, take the key/remote of the Maserati Coupe. To replace the shell, you will need: a new shell, a small screwdriver, and a CW2032 battery.

The first step is to remove the metal key from the shell; to do this, press the button and use a screwdriver to lever it out. Once the key is removed, insert the screwdriver into the small hole and lever it open into two parts. Once the remote is open, you can extract the microchip.

Now take the new shell and insert the microchip on one side and the new battery on the other. Then take the key and unscrew the screw to insert a new one. Insert the key into the shell and reassemble everything.
