How to Change the Oil in a Mazda RX8 DIY

On the Mazda RX-8, the oil change procedure begins with securely lifting the vehicle and protecting the work area. If present, remove the lower splash guard as shown, position the drain pan under the oil pan plug, and unscrew it to allow the oil to drain out. If necessary, replace the oil filter by accessing it from the indicated point, checking the gasket, and lubricating the O-ring of the new filter. Reinstall the plug (with a new washer if needed), then fill with the appropriate oil through the filler cap in the engine compartment; briefly start the engine and check for any leaks. With the engine off, after a few minutes, check the oil level using the dipstick and adjust if necessary.
