In order to open and close the rear hatch of a Mercedes, there are several options available: to open it, you will need to approach the car with the key in your pocket and pass your foot under the bumper. This way, the sensor will detect movement and allow you to unlock and open the hatch. Once it has been opened, you can close it again by passing your foot under the bumper. You can also close the hatch by pressing the LOCK button located on its lower part: this will securely close the hatch.
