The headrests of the Mercedes E-Class are designed to detach and push the head forward in the event of a rear collision, in order to minimize any injuries caused by whiplash, for example. They can then be restored by following a simple mechanical action, as explained in this tutorial. First, go to the rear seat, then grab the headrest, push it forcefully downwards, and once it reaches the stop, pull it towards you until you hear a click. Once this is done, make sure the mechanism is properly engaged by shaking the seat.
