How to Change the Air Filter in a Mercedes A-Class

Model: Mercedes Classe A W168 - Years 1997-2004

On the Mercedes A-Class, you work from under the hood. After opening it, focus on the air filter box: it is the large plastic cover with the Mercedes-Benz logo, clearly visible in the engine compartment. Once there, release the latches on the cover and lift the top of the box just enough to access the filter. At this point, on the Mercedes A-Class, pull the old filter out of its seat with your hands, removing it straight out. With the box open, you can clearly see the inside of the airbox, which is where the filter sits. Next, take the new filter and insert it into the same spot, ensuring it sits correctly along the edge without being crooked. When the filter is in place, close the box by returning the cover to its position and secure the latches, leaving everything as it was originally.
