Common AdBlue Issues on Mercedes and How to Resolve Them

On vehicles equipped with the AdBlue system, such as the Mercedes in the video, the most common problems are: low AdBlue level or poor-quality fluid (this is a frequently reported issue. Ensure you use quality AdBlue, often sold as DEF Fluid). Another reason could be a faulty AdBlue tank heater. The tank has a heating element to prevent freezing in winter; if it fails, it blocks the start. Perform a diagnosis with a scanner and replace the damaged part. Other issues may include faulty NOx sensors or control module, so check the fuses, wiring, and replace defective components. The error codes you may find with the OBD scanner are "AdBlue fill level too low", "AdBlue heating element open circuit", and "frequency counter engine start". Prevent issues by refilling AdBlue before it drops below 1/4 of the tank; in winter, try to park undercover to avoid freezing problems; conduct periodic diagnostics to identify faults early.
