Central Console Replacement

Model: Mercedes Slk R170, MK 1 - Years 1997-2004
Part: Center console tunnel

The following guide shows how to dismantle the central tunnel of the cabin to replace the central console. First, remove the gear knob by pushing it upwards with force. Then, remove the gear gaiter by pushing the side edge inwards. Next, take off the handbrake gaiter. Raise the handbrake as high as possible to allow for the extraction of the console later. Remove all side screws from both sides and the caps. Also, take out the ashtray tray and remove the two screws at the bottom. Then, remove the radio by unscrewing the four screws in the radio compartment and disconnecting the connectors. You can then proceed to dismantle the cigarette lighter. After this, disconnect the fan control block and detach the air vents. You can now start to unclip the console from the rear; the front will come away on its own.
