Mercedes Slk - Video tutorial

Model: Mercedes Slk R170, MK 1 - Years 1997-2004
Part: Drive shaft
Operation: Replacement of rear wheel hub bearings

Raise the car on a lift or on suitable car stands and remove the rear wheel; then remove the caliper and the brake disc to exceed the jaws: remove the adjuster and the sealing springs of the jaws to be able to remove them; then unscrew the nut fixing the semi-shaft to the hub and the pins fixing the flange to the differential in order to remove the semi-shaft itself; then use a hammer extractor to remove the hub flange, unhook the seeger ring that secures the bearing to the hub seat and complete the extraction of the bearing with the hammer extractor. Carefully clean the bearing seat and insert the new one using the old bearing as a buffer, insert the seeger ring to secure the bearing in its seat and proceed backwards by reassembling what was previously removed (use a threaded rod with washers and nuts to insert the flange hub), paying attention to the jaw springs.
