Mercedes Classe S - Video tutorial
Model: Mercedes Classe S
MK 5, W221
- Years 2005-2013 In this video, we see how to replace the auxiliary battery of a Mercedes S-Class W221 version. Like many high-end cars, the Mercedes S-Class has an auxiliary battery that powers all its electronics. When there is a malfunction message regarding the auxiliary battery, it means that there is an undervoltage, but the reason could also be faulty cables or relays. Before installing one of these batteries, it is good to test it with a voltmeter to ensure that it has at least 12.6 volts. Then we need to remove the cover of the compartment that houses the fuses and remove the plate with the fuses; to do this, we will need to remove two screws and two bolts. Then we need to remove the four screws under the dashboard to access the battery. We remove the negative (black) pole first, then the positive (red) pole and remove the battery from its bracket. Here we will put the new battery back in place, but first, we will test it. We connect the poles, put it back in the bracket, and put it in its place. We put back the lower part of the dashboard and then the fuse plate. We close the lid, and the operation is complete.
