In this video, we will show you how to change the battery in an MG car key: first, press the button located on one side of the key, at the top. This will open the key, allowing you to remove the emergency key from its housing, which is beneath the metal frame.

Use this to pry open the remote shell in two halves, leveraging at the joint.

This will open the remote into two halves, revealing a common CR2032 button battery, which you can find for a few pounds at any supermarket. Replace it, ensuring the correct polarity.

Then, reassemble the two halves of the casing, ensuring the metal frame fits well, insert the physical key back in place, and close the casing. Job done.
