Let's see how to change the fuel filter on a Mini Cooper S: disconnect the battery, remove the rear seat which is fixed by two side springs, and unscrew the access panel on the driver's side, fixed by 5 10mm bolts; disconnect the fuel line by pressing the two tabs and pulling it away, then unscrew the clamp using a hammer and chisel on the plastic ring, tapping counterclockwise to loosen it. Pull out the module and remove the plastic cap from the old filter, using a screwdriver to leverage. Put the filter and gaskets in a container to dispose of it properly at an authorized center, put the new gaskets and filter, close the cap, put the module back in the tank, screw the ring clockwise, reconnect the fuel line, reassemble the panel and the seat.
