Here’s how to check the maintenance status on a Mini R56, which is done entirely through the knob and the central display. Switch on the instrument panel, and go to the "home" screen by pressing the "menu" button and turning the knob until you find the "my mini" option. Access "vehicle status" and scroll down to "service status" where you can see the condition of the tyres, the engine oil level, the brake fluid status, and details on the next service due (miles and time remaining until the next service). The Mini system is based on usage conditions, so the remaining miles can change depending on driving style, type of route, and other factors; it is not a fixed counter.
