How to Remove the Gear Knob on Mini R56

Model: Mini Mini R56, R55, R57 - Years 2007-2014

Using a plastic lever, pry at the base of the gear lever, slowly lifting a small part of the lower trim at a time. Ensure that the gaiter is not caught. At this point, you just need to pull with a bit of force, and gently twist, to literally detach the knob along with the gaiter. Unscrew the visible part of the knob. Turn everything inside out like a sock, and using a screwdriver, detach the knob's pin from the gaiter. Insert the new pin, straighten the gaiter + knob assembly, and screw on the new upper part of the knob.
