Mini Cooper key battery replacement

Model: Mini Mini R55, R57, R56 - Years 2007-2014
Part: Key

Today we will show you a simple but not trivial maintenance: changing the battery on a Mini Cooper F style key. Remove the manual ignition key from the casing. On this, detach the central top with a small flat screwdriver, as shown in the video. With the same small screwdriver, remove the last small plastic that is above the battery (it takes a bit of force) and slide it out. Insert the new battery and proceed backwards: first insert the small battery protection, then the other plastic plate (they are only inserted with plastic hooks) and reinsert the manual key. Check that everything is working correctly.

Remove the soundproofing panel covering the cylinder head, the air filter kit (if necessary), then disconnect the coils by hand, unscrew the spark plugs with your socket wrench, and pull them out of the cylinder head. Take the new spark plugs and guide them with the extension of the socket wrench into the cylinder head, tighten them properly, secure the ignition coils, refit the previously removed panel and the air filter kit.
