How to Replace the Radio in a Mini R56

This guide will show you how to replace the radio in a Mini R56. Start by removing the panel to the right of the speedometer, pulling out the pieces beside the glove compartment, behind which you will find bolts to remove. Once removed, take off the plastic piece to the right and left of the panel, as shown at 2:40. Now, also remove the panel behind the steering wheel in the same manner.

Next, unscrew two screws located inside the air vent; once done, you can remove the trim around the speedometer as shown at 4:05. Now go to the pedal area; directly above, there will be a panel held in place by three screws, which you need to unscrew.

The next step is to pull out two panels on either side of the centre console; focus on the centre area now, removing a panel under the controls, two screws in the cup holder, and one screw at the back of the armrest.

This will allow you to remove the entire centre section and control panel, as shown at 6:50. The final operation before you can remove the radio is to pull out the last two remaining panels on the sides and the two screws of the CD player. Now you can extract the radio for replacement.
