Firstly, the auxiliary belt is not the timing belt and is generally replaced around 62,000 to 75,000 miles. You should assess the wear of its components during each service, always checking the tensioner.

Maintenance is recommended every six months or at least once a year. The auxiliary belt operates relatively simply but is crucial; it transfers the motion from the crankshaft to all other services: alternator, air conditioning compressor, power steering pump, and in some cases, the water pump that cools the radiator and engine.
