In today's video we will find out where the front hood release lever is located in the Mini 3-door of the R50, R52 and R53 series. The position is less conventional, as it is an English car. In fact, being set up for driving on the right, the opening lever will always be located on the right side of the passenger compartment. Then open the passenger side door and bend over in the footwell; identify the black plastic lever and pull it towards us. Now we can complete the unlocking of the front hood by going to the front part of the car, identifying the release in question.

First, release the bonnet using the appropriate lever to lift it and secure it with the prop rod. Then, remove the upper rear cover of the engine, where the tops of the spark plugs are located. Once the cover is removed, disconnect the connectors from the coils that feed the spark plugs at the bottom of the cylinder where the coils are housed. Using a socket spanner, unscrew the spark plugs and pull them out. If your socket is magnetised, it will help; otherwise, you will need to use long-nosed pliers, and you're done!
