To replace the license plate bulb on a Nissan Altima, open the trunk to detach the rivets securing the inner carpet of the trunk lid. Once the rivets are removed, you can pull back the carpet to access the connectors attached to the bulbs. Disconnect the connector to remove the bulb from its housing and replace it with a new one. After connecting the new bulb to the connector, insert it back into its housing and reattach the carpet.
