In this video, see how to adjust the handbrake on a Nissan Note: on the centre console, there is a small cover under the handbrake that you will lift with a flathead screwdriver (or preferably a plastic spatula to avoid scratching). The adjustment screw is not located in the hole left by the cover, but further inside, beneath the handbrake.

Therefore, you need to lift the protective plastic cover to see the screw, and use a flexible extension to turn it. Once the screw is engaged with your extension, turn the screw to bring the handbrake lever to a maximum of three clicks when fully pulled.
