How to change the gear knob on an Opel/Vauxhall Astra F

In this video we see how to change an old and worn gear shift boot on an Opel/Vauxhall Astra F: we can find the replacement part for example on Amazon with the code B00DCB7G9C at the price of 11.99 euros + 5.99 euros for delivery. The first thing to do is to remove the plastic frame that holds the boot in place: we can do this by levering with a small screwdriver or with a plastic lever. In this way we lift the boot, and we see that it is attached to the lever with a strap. We cut it and pull off the boot. Then we notice that the plastic frame is attached to the leather with normal metal clips. We have to remove them, because the frame is needed for the new boot, which has an elastic at the bottom that should hold it fairly securely. However, the youtuber, for safety, secures the boot with some metal clips. Once positioned over the gear shift lever, we pull it up, to secure it to the rod with a new strap, which we will adjust and cut to size, after which we can fit the frame back in place. Operation completed.
