How to clean the crankshaft sensor of an Opel Meriva

Let's see where the RPM sensor of an Opel Meriva is located: it is actually in a standard position, near the crankshaft pulley, in the engine block and pointing towards the teeth of the timing gear, which is mounted on the crankshaft itself, fixed with two screws. It is a black cylinder with an electrical connector that connects it to the engine control unit. It can be easily found by standing in front of the car and looking down to the right of the engine. To clean it, we will need a specific cleaner for electrical contacts, such as LiquiMoly 21700 which can be found on auto parts websites. It costs 8.48 euros + 9.95 euros for shipping. With the engine off and cold, disconnect the battery and unscrew the screws and disconnect the connector. Remove the sensor and spray the tip of the sensor abundantly with the spray, letting it evaporate for the necessary time. Put it back in place with screws and connector; reconnect the battery and do a test. If the engine light was on, it should now be off.
