How to Change the Key Cover on an Opel Key

The method described here for changing the cover of an Opel key is valid for models with a flip key produced from 2005 to mid-2009, such as Corsa, Astra, Vectra, Zafira, and Insignia. On the back of the key, open the cover and remove the battery, then separate the two halves, keeping in mind that the original shell in the centre is glued, so be careful. Extract the circuit: to use your key, you need to remove the pin that holds the blade in the old mechanism by gently tapping the punch to extract the pin. The new shell has a spring for the snap mechanism. To load it, insert the original blade with the spring tab hooked into the designated slot. Rotate the blade counterclockwise for 2 turns to load the spring. Position the circuit in the new shell, ensuring that the pressure points align. Join the two halves of the shell without the need for glue. Insert the new battery, close the cover, and screw in the only screw present. Check the operation.
