The rear bonnet support struts are actually gas springs that tend to deteriorate over time, no longer providing adequate support. These products are readily available in the aftermarket at very reasonable prices; at the same time, the replacement is extremely simple to carry out. Once the bonnet is open, remove the metal clip and disconnect the plastic ball joint; open the plastic tab located under the ball joint, fit the new spring into its respective seat, snap the plastic tab back in place, and insert the safety clip.
