If the rear boot does not stay open properly, the gas struts, commonly referred to as pistons, have likely deteriorated and need replacing. Once you have purchased the new struts, ensure compatibility by comparing the type of attachment and length.

Proceed to replace one strut at a time by releasing the safety clip at the spherical hinge and pulling it out. Fit the new strut, orienting it correctly, and ensure the safety clips are engaged.
