Instructions for Replacing the Ball Joint

Model: Vauxhall Astra Astra H - Years 2004-2010

To replace the ball joint of the steering rack tie rod, position the vehicle on a lift or on suitable axle stands and remove the front wheel. Then, unscrew the nut securing the ball joint to the wheel hub and use a forked chisel to extract it from its seat; however, before removing the ball joint, unscrew the locking nut to then extract and unscrew the ball joint, counting the number of turns; at this point, screw in the new ball joint with the same number of turns, position it in its seat, tighten the securing nut on the hub, and the locking nut. After installation, it is advisable to have the alignment checked.
