This video shows how to replace the display on an Opel Astra K: a flickering or black screen is a common fault on Astra models that are at least three years old. Music plays, but the screen displays no image. Unfortunately, the only solution is to replace the screen, and the video lists all the tools needed.

First, remove the two black covers surrounding the screen; the larger one has ten clips to pry off. Next, remove the chrome strip held by eight clips, two of which are quite difficult to remove. Then, remove the two bolts to free the screen by lifting it upwards; disconnect the electrical connectors, remove the plastic panel, and then take out the red connector.

Carefully remove the ribbon cables for the touch screen digitiser. Remove the black plastic from under the circuit and also disconnect the other end of the ribbon cable to connect it to the new screen.

This is an important step: remove the lower screen frame by releasing the clips. It is necessary to remove it to allow the ribbon cable to be taken out and the new screen to be installed.
