To change the gear lever gaiter on the Opel Astra, start by removing the plastic panel under the handbrake lever, which gives access to two screws. Once these are removed and the front plastic part is taken off, you can unclip the base of the gaiter and lift it. Cut the tie that secures the gaiter to the base of the knob and remove the old gaiter.

Insert the new gaiter and place the base in its seat, reposition the front plastic, screw in the two screws, secure the top of the gaiter to the base of the knob using the supplied tie, and insert the plastic panel under the handbrake. The aesthetic result would surely have been better with the tie inside.
