Cleaning the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Circuit on Opel Corsa 1.3 CDTI

The EGR valve introduces a portion of exhaust gases back into the intake to reduce emissions. Continuous contact with exhaust gases, often contaminated with unburnt diesel vapours and oil, tends to get dirty, leading to blockage and potentially damaging the associated electric actuator (error P0400). The valve is located at the rear right of the engine when viewed from the front. When you decide to remove it for cleaning, it is advisable and strongly recommended to also remove the intake manifold to clean and unclog it as well.
